Artist Leslie M. Guzmán
Leslie M. Guzmán is a Guatemalan artist best known for her creative explorations of world cultures. Her works capture the untold stories of people, objects and the places from which they come.
Leslie’s exploration into art began at age 12 when she received her first camera as a gift from her mother. She quickly discovered a love for viewing the world through a lens and capturing the candid moments that often went overlooked. She was particularly fond of the developing process where the story hidden in the photos was able to be revealed.
This passion for discovery carried with Leslie as she furthered her art education in college. While she explored artistic mediums beyond photography she also found herself exploring her own story. She connected with a desire to reveal the culture and history from which she’d come.
Today, Leslie uses her craft to help her viewers connect to their own stories while exploring those of the world around them. You can view her art and follow her journeys through her exhibits, blog and social media.
Leslie M. Guzmán has participated in exhibits nationally and internationally. Recently her Colorful Traditions piece from her “Fragments” series took first place at the Visual Art Alliance Juried Exhibit juried by Lester Marks. Another piece from the same series Grandmother’s Window was awarded & the piece Justice for Genocide was part of the Holocaust Museum of Houston’s exhibit “GENOCIDE: Man’s inhumanity to Humankind” curated by Clint Willour.
