Goji Berry Reveal: More Than A Fruit

More like whoo hoo a BABY (finally) reveal! We haven’t been hiding it, in fact, mother’s day gift that I discussed getting it right with my mother in law and my sister, yeah the baby was the gift. Well a picture of the first ultrasound, I thought it was the best way to announce it to them and on Mama’s day.

We had agreed to keep it a secret for the first trimester, mostly hubby but I decided to go along with his wishes. Then we told our family and my sister can’t keep a secret to save her life, especially her becoming an aunt. I think it’s because she has been waiting for a long time to be one. So the plan changed and we had a “Housewarming Party” and only invited our closest friends and surprised them with baby news. Of course, after that, it was on social media, so not so secret anymore. Or so I would think. People have Facebook and Instagram but they don’t really pay attention to the content. It’s been a few months and people are still shocked that I’m pregnant, like if I was hiding it.

No, not hiding it, I just chose to only discuss my pregnancy with my dear friends outside of Facebook. It took too long to get pregnant I didn’t want any OJO or bad juju! We are now past four months and I feel more confident and secure and I chose to discuss it openly with the world or those who care.

Believe it or not, that is the baby’s nickname. There is a reason for it, and I didn’t give the name, my sister did. I’ve been open about my PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and hubby has his own issue that he will discuss later in another post. After four years of marriage, and so many kinds of methods of trying to conceive, minus in vitro. I had come to the realization that it was just going to be him and I and was ok with that. Hubby, on the other hand, was not and he kept convincing me to keep trying after I would say no more. For those couples that know the hardship of conceiving, know what I’m talking about. It becomes so tiresome and stressful for you and as a couple. So last year after one more time of false hope, I put my foot down and said no more, we are done trying. Hubby knew I meant it and he didn’t bring it up anymore and respected the decision.

I vaguely remember a conversation we had on a random day. He was telling me how he ran across a blog about alternate foods and of course a natural form to treat his condition. He mentioned some nuts and Goji berries. We didn’t discuss it at depth so I forgot about it.

I had no idea by the way. With PCOS your cycles are off and you don’t menstruate regularly unless you’re taking medicine for it. So me being late meant nothing to me. Then I had a bad reaction to tuna and I thought, hmmmm. That same night I dreamt with my late mother and a baby. I woke up told hubby, he told me to take a pregnancy test. That’s because he had his own suspicions. Why would he?

BECAUSE he went out and got all those different nuts he had told me about and secretly had been eating them right before we conceived. He didn’t want to tell me because he had his doubts it would work and after years of trying didn’t want false hope.

So when we told my sister who had for years told us she would be our baby’s surrogate mother, between tears of joy named the baby Goji. She even has a Pinterest board for the baby named that way.

Of course, I’m beyond excited to be a mother even though I meant what I said to hubby, that if we were meant not to have children, I was ok with just him and I. Now Mochito will be a big brother.

My Life With Salsa friends needed to know the full story on the Goji baby and now I can fully update my progress pictures.

We don’t know what it is about Goji berries or how much it had to do with us getting pregnant. Hubby has been reading more about it and finding out there are so many foods that men can eat to help in the baby making process. He also tells the world what he did, especially people who are having trouble conceiving. He told some guy friends in the same boat as we were, and they are expecting. So Goji it is!

P.S. Please feel to share this, in fact, I insist you share it, you never know who you know that is struggling with a problem similar to us and it may help. Husband found out about Goji berries through a blog post… Read about my first item purchased for pregnancy, HERE.
